The price of phone calls in Australia is set to go up in 2018, and it looks like it’s going to rise even more.
According to an article published by the Australian Financial Review, the cost of a monthly phone bill in Australia will increase from $2.99 to $2,499 in 2018.
This means that the price tag for a basic monthly phone call will go up from $1.69 to $1,499.
This is due to a new tariff being introduced.
The new tariff will see the price increase by $0.03 per cent each month, meaning that a basic rate of $2 a month will be $2 cheaper than before.
This new tariff is expected to go into effect on July 1st, 2018.
If you are thinking of getting a direct bill for your phone bill it might be worth checking if there is an alternative to getting a phone number.
If so, then it’s worth going to the Australian Consumer Law Centre’s Direct Billing section to find out how to get a lower price.
